The Four Rules of Firearm Safety

These rules apply everywhere, including gun shows: 1) Treat every firearm as if it is loaded. 2) Never point a firearm at anything you do not intend to destroy. 3) Keep your finger off the trigger until ready to fire. 4) Be sure of your target and what is beyond it.

Show-Specific Safety Rules

Most gun shows require all firearms brought into the venue to be unloaded and action-open. Safety officers at the entrance will verify and typically zip-tie actions. Ammunition may be restricted to vendor tables only. Follow all posted rules and listen to safety officers.

Transporting Firearms To and From Shows

Transport firearms unloaded, in a case, and in your vehicle trunk or cargo area. Check your state and local laws regarding transport requirements — some states have specific rules about locked containers and separation of firearms from ammunition during transport.
