Indoor vs outdoor range — pros and cons
I shoot at both but indoor is always available in bad weather. The indoor near me only allows pistol calibers.
What type of range do you use and why?

Been running ranges for 12 years and both have their place. Indoor is great for consistent conditions and pistol work, but nothing beats outdoor for rifle practice. The ventilation is better outdoors too - less lead exposure. If you can only pick one, I'd go outdoor for versatility.
I use both but prefer outdoor when weather permits. Something about being outside just feels more natural. Indoor is convenient for quick sessions after work though. The lighting is usually better indoors which helps with precision work on paper targets.
Outdoor all the way for competition practice. Most matches are outdoors so you need to practice in wind and varying light conditions. Indoor is fine for basic drills but you can't practice long range rifle indoors. Plus the sound isn't as harsh outdoors even with plugs and muffs.
