Powder measure throwing inconsistent charges
My Hornady Lock-N-Load is throwing charges that vary by +/- 0.5gr for .308 Win. Using Hodgdon powder which is a ball powder.
Time to upgrade?. What do you guys use for consistent charges?

That seems like a lot of variation. I don't reload much yet but picked up a basic Lee setup last year. From what I've read, ball powders can be tricky in powder measures... maybe try a different powder type?
Half grain variation is way too much for precision .308 loads. Your Lock-N-Load should be more consistent than that. Ball powders can be finicky but Hodgdon makes good stuff. Check if your measure needs adjustment or cleaning - sometimes powder residue builds up and causes issues. I switched to a Chargemaster Lite a few years back and love the consistency, but they're pricey. For now try running the handle slower and more consistently.
Been there... ended up upgrading to an RCBS ChargeMaster Supreme after fighting with my old Hornady measure. The electronic dispensers are game changers for precision loads. But before you spend the money, try cleaning your measure really well and maybe switching to a stick powder like Varget - flows more consistently than ball powders in most measures.
I had the opposite experience honestly. But everyone's different I guess.
LOL I felt the same way. It gets better after a few weeks trust me.
