Brass prep — how anal are you?
For precision rifle loads I trim, deburr, chamfer, uniform primer pockets. For plinking I don't bother sorting.
How much brass prep do you do? Does it really make a difference at 200 yds?

For precision stuff I do the full prep - learned that from watching my husband miss shots lol. But for my 9mm plinking loads? Just size and prime. At 200 yards with a good rifle the prep definitely matters... I can see the difference on paper.
Just starting out so I'm doing everything by the book right now. Trimming every case, checking OAL, the whole nine yards. Probably overkill for plinking but I figure better to learn it right the first time. My Lee single-stage is slow but I'm learning a lot.
Depends on the rifle and what you're trying to do. My .308 bolt gun gets the full treatment - trim, deburr, pocket uniforming, weight sorting, the works. My AR gets basic sizing and that's it. At 200 yards with a decent barrel you'll probably see a difference if you do your part behind the trigger.
Anyone else run into this? I thought I was the only one.

Agree 100%. Had the exact same experience with my setup.
