.45 ACP load development — share your recipe
Working up a load for .45 ACP in my Daniel Defense DDM4. Currently testing Alliant RL-15 behind Berger VLD bullets. Getting inconsistent groups at 100.
Anyone have a proven recipe for .45 ACP?

Yeah something's not right here brother. DD doesn't make .45 ACP rifles that I know of. But if you're working up .45 ACP loads for a pistol, I've had great luck with 4.8gr of Bullseye under a 230gr FMJ. Consistent velocities and accurate out of my 1911. RL-15 is way too slow for .45 ACP though.
Hold up... you're loading .45 ACP for a Daniel Defense rifle? Pretty sure DDM4s are 5.56/.223 platforms. Are you maybe thinking of a different cartridge? If you meant .223 Rem, RL-15 and Berger VLDs can work but that powder's better suited for heavier bullets. For .223 try Varget with 77gr SMKs.
I'm confused too... thought DDM4s were AR-15s? I just started loading .45 ACP on my Lee single stage and been using Titegroup powder. Maybe you meant something else? Still learning all this stuff but the guys here know their stuff!
Solid post. I've been thinking about the same thing lately. My Beretta 92X has been my go-to but I'm always looking at other options.
Appreciate the honest review. Most people just hype everything up.
