Water filtration — Berkey vs Sawyer
Looking at a Berkey filter for water filtration. Works great.
For a family of 3, what's your water plan? I'm calculating about 1 gallons per person per day. That's a LOT of stored water.

Berkey's solid - we used similar setups overseas. But honestly for backup I keep a couple Sawyer Minis in the BOB too. They're like $20 each and filter 100k gallons. Rain catchment is smart if you've got the setup for it.
I've got a Big Berkey at the house - thing's bulletproof. Been using it for about 3 years now and filters taste great. For a family of 3 you're looking at maybe 200-300 gallons stored if you want a month's worth... that's a lot of blue barrels lol. I went with rain catchment off my metal roof into 55 gallon drums, then run it through the Berkey. Works great and beats buying pallets of water bottles.
This is the content I come here for. Thanks OP.
LOL I felt the same way. It gets better after a few weeks trust me.
Solid post. I've been thinking about the same thing lately. My HK VP9 has been my go-to but I'm always looking at other options.
Appreciate the honest review. Most people just hype everything up.
