rice and beans review — honest take
Tried Augason Farms for the first time. Better than expected. Shelf life is 25 years which is the whole point.
Calorie count per serving is misleading on some brands. Stick to canned goods

Good looking out for sharing this deal. Just ordered one.
Can you share more details on your setup? I'm trying to decide between a few options right now.
Appreciate the honest review. Most people just hype everything up.

Been there done that. Lesson learned the hard way for me too.
Been rotating through Augason for about 2 years now with the family. Kids actually don't mind the taste which is huge. Pro tip - add some bouillon cubes or seasoning packets to make it more palatable. I keep about 60% canned goods and 40% dried stuff like this. Canned is heavier but you're right, it's reliable.
Augason Farms is solid stuff. We used similar rations downrange and they hold up well. You're right about the calorie thing - always read the fine print on serving sizes. Mountain House costs more but tastes better if you can swing it. For long-term storage though, can't beat rice and beans for the price.
