MREs review — taste test
Tried Augason Farms for the first time. Better than expected. Shelf life is 25 years which is the whole point.
Calorie count per serving is decent. Stick to canned goods

25 year shelf life sounds great but you pay for it. I stick mostly to canned goods and rotate them - way cheaper and tastes better. But having some long term stuff makes sense for true SHTF scenarios. Check the per-serving cost though... some of these companies really inflate their serving sizes.
Augason Farms is pretty good stuff. I tried their mac and cheese - not bad for survival food. But $30 for a #10 can adds up quick when you're starting out. Mixing some MREs with canned goods and rice/beans keeps costs down.
Facts. I switched to the same thing about 8 months ago and it was a game changer.
My two cents — don't overthink it. Just get what feels right in your hand and train with it.
