8 month food supply — cost breakdown
Here's what I've built over the past 5 months: - 156 lbs rice and beans - 70 cans assorted vegetables and protein - 29 rice and beans buckets - Coffee because priorities
Total cost: roughly $1352. Cheaper than you think.
What does your food supply look like?

Nice job on the basics! Your cost per pound is pretty good too. I grow and preserve a lot of my own food but still keep store-bought backup. One thing I'd suggest - make sure you're rotating that stock and actually eating it occasionally so you know how to prepare everything. Also consider adding some multivitamins and vitamin C, especially if you're not storing much fresh/frozen produce. And don't forget salt! You can never have too much salt for food preservation and health. I keep about 50lbs on hand at all times.
Looks good man. I'm at about 6 months for my family of 4 and it cost me around $2800 so you're doing well on budget. My kids won't eat plain rice and beans though so I had to get creative with pasta, mac and cheese, and stuff they'll actually consume in a crisis. Also recommend adding some comfort foods - cookies, chocolate, candy. Sounds silly but morale matters when SHTF. How's your water storage looking? Food's only half the equation.
That's a solid start! Rice and beans will keep you alive but gets boring real quick. I've got about the same setup but added more variety - lots of canned chicken, spam, peanut butter, and honey. Also stocked up on spices and hot sauce because bland food kills morale. Coffee is absolutely essential though, good call on that priority!
Gonna have to respectfully disagree here. I've seen too many people have issues with that.
Not sure I agree but I respect the opinion. For me the Taurus G3C has been rock solid for 3 months now.
That's a steal at that price honestly. I paid way more for mine.
