4 month food supply — my setup
Here's what I've built over the past 6 months: - 181 lbs rice and beans - 83 cans assorted vegetables and protein - 22 MREs buckets - Honey, salt, sugar basics
Total cost: roughly $1122. Cheaper than you think.
What does your food supply look like?

Damn that's way more organized than me! I'm at maybe 2-3 months but spread it out over time buying sales. Costco rice is your friend - 50lb bag for like $20. Also check out ethnic grocery stores, way cheaper rice and beans than regular supermarkets. You can stretch that $1122 a lot further if you shop around.
This is exactly what I needed to see! I just started and have maybe 2 weeks worth... feeling overwhelmed by all the options. Did you buy everything at once or spread it out? And how do you store 181 lbs of rice?? I'm in an apartment so space is tight.
Nice setup! That's a solid foundation right there. I've got about 6 months worth for the family of 5 - mostly rice, beans, oats, and freeze dried stuff. One thing I'd add is some variety... after a week of rice and beans you're gonna want something different lol. Maybe look into some pasta, canned tomatoes, spices. Also if you haven't already, get a good rotation system going so nothing expires on you.
Anyone else run into this? I thought I was the only one.
