12 month food supply — where to start
Here's what I've built over the past 2 months: - 138 lbs rice and beans - 23 cans assorted vegetables and protein - 5 freeze-dried veggies buckets - Vitamins and supplements
Total cost: roughly $686. Started during COVID and never stopped.
What does your food supply look like?

Nice start! We're sitting on about 6 months for the family of 4. Rice and beans are cheap calories but don't forget variety - the kids won't eat beans and rice for weeks straight lol. I rotate through Mountain House, Augason Farms, and bulk stuff from Costco. Add some spices and hot sauce or you'll go crazy. Also look into mylar bags with O2 absorbers for longer term storage.
Solid foundation but you're missing fats and oils - your body needs them. Coconut oil, olive oil, and nuts store well. Also consider sprouting supplies - mung beans and alfalfa seeds turn into fresh greens in days. We grow most of our food but still keep a year of staples. Don't forget salt, honey, and baking soda - they last forever and have multiple uses.
I run a similar setup and it's been flawless. Good choice.
