Bug out location — do you have one
Be honest — do you actually have a bug out location? No plan yet.
My concern is getting there in a crisis. How far is your BOL and is it actually stocked?

Yeah I've got a spot about 45 miles east in the Smokies. Been working on it for 3 years now - cleared a small area, built a lean-to shelter, got a cache buried with basics. Water source is solid year round. But honestly... 45 miles could be a real problem if roads are jammed. I can hike it in about 12 hours with a full pack but that's assuming clear trails. Been thinking I need something closer, maybe 15-20 miles max.
Nope, no BOL. I keep a decent BOB in the truck but tbh I think most "bug out" scenarios are fantasy. If things get bad enough that I need to leave my house with just a backpack... where exactly am I going that's safer? Most realistic SHTF is power outage, supply disruption, maybe civil unrest - all stuff you handle better at home with your preps. Just my 2 cents.
Been there done that. Lesson learned the hard way for me too.
Agree 100%. Had the exact same experience with my setup.
Can you share more details on your setup? I'm trying to decide between a few options right now.
