Vortex Viper PST review — 1676 rounds later
Had the Vortex Viper PST on my AK-47 for about 12 months now. Illumination is bright enough for daylight.
Only complaint: eye box is tight.
Overall you get what you pay for. Questions welcome.

LOL I felt the same way. It gets better after a few weeks trust me.
I had the opposite experience honestly. But everyone's different I guess.
That's a steal at that price honestly. I paid way more for mine.
Can you share more details on your setup? I'm trying to decide between a few options right now.
This is exactly why I joined this forum. Good discussion.
Solid scope, though I gotta ask - what made you go with the PST on an AK? Not being a smartass, just curious since most of my glass goes on lever guns where eye relief is way different.
Good choice on the PST. I've had the Gen II 5-25x50 on test for about 18 months now and put it through hell. That tight eyebox is definitely the trade-off for the price point - you're gonna notice it more on an AK platform with that scope height. FWIW the newer PST Gen II has improved the eyebox slightly but still not as forgiving as say a Razor. How's tracking been for you? I've found the PSTs hold zero pretty well even with heavy recoil.
That eyebox issue is real. Had one on a test rifle for a while and ended up going back to my Leupold. For precision work you really notice how finicky the head position has to be. But for general use, especially at that price point, hard to beat.
Nice setup! How's that illumination working out in low light transitions? I run mostly night stuff but been thinking about a day optic for my AK build. The PST's illumination supposed to be pretty decent for dawn/dusk work.
