Scope rings vs one-piece mount — does it matter?
Setting up my AK-47 with a Sig Romeo5 and debating ADM Recon vs a one-piece Scalarworks mount.
For precision shooting does the mount really matter that much? I feel like people overthink this.

Interesting take. I went the other direction and picked up a Ruger MAX-9 instead. No regrets so far but ask me again in 6 months.
I'm in the same boat. Let me know what you end up going with.
For an AK with a red dot either mount will work fine tbh. The rifle isn't gonna be sub-MOA anyway so don't overthink it. I run ADM mounts on most of my stuff and they've held zero through thousands of rounds. Scalarworks is nice but probably overkill for what you're doing. Save the money for more ammo.
Both are good mounts but for night shooting I actually prefer the ADM because it's easier to get behind with NVGs. The Scalarworks sits a bit lower which can interfere with some helmet setups. But during the day with just a red dot, either one will serve you well. The AK's bigger issue is going to be finding a solid optic rail mount to attach to.
I'm running an ADM mount on my SHTF rifle and it's been rock solid. Easy to remove and reinstall which is nice for storage/transport. The Scalarworks looks slick but I've never used one personally.
Mount quality absolutely matters for precision work, but for an AK with a red dot? Not so much. The AK platform has inherent accuracy limitations that'll show up long before your mount choice does. Both ADM and Scalarworks make solid mounts. The Scalarworks has a lower profile which some guys prefer. Just make sure whatever you get has good return to zero if you plan on removing it.
