Mounting a red dot on a Kimber Micro 9 — slide milling
Thinking about putting a Trijicon RMR on my Kimber Micro 9. Need to mill the slide.
Is a pistol red dot worth it? I've heard it is overrated for carry.

FWIW I've got a Holosun 507k on my P365 and love it for hiking. Game changer when you need to make a quick shot on a snake or coyote. The battery life is insane - like 50k hours. For EDC though, make sure your holster covers the dot properly so it doesn't get banged up. And practice your draw... the dot can be finicky at first.
I got my Shield Plus milled for an RMR and honestly... it's a game changer. My husband said the same thing about it being overrated until he watched me put 10 rounds in a 2" group at 15 yards. The sight picture is so much faster, especially for us ladies with smaller hands. Cost me about $150 at my LGS for the milling. Just make sure you practice with it - took me maybe 200 rounds to really get comfortable.
Red dots on pistols are legit, especially if you do any low light work. I run an RMR on my Glock 19 and the dot shows up great under NODs. For carry though... depends on your holster situation. Most kydex makers do RMR cuts now so shouldn't be an issue. The Kimber might be tight for slide cuts but a good shop can handle it.
This is the content I come here for. Thanks OP.
I run a similar setup and it's been flawless. Good choice.
Can you share more details on your setup? I'm trying to decide between a few options right now.
Good looking out for sharing this deal. Just ordered one.
+1 on this. My buddy had the same issue and switching to Crossbreed SuperTuck fixed it for him.
