LPVO vs red dot for home defense
Can't decide between a 1-10x LPVO and a red dot for my Ruger 10/22. Primary use is a bit of everything.
Red dot + magnifier seems like best of both

Yeah go red dot for sure. I've got a Vortex Crossfire on my 10/22 and it's perfect. LPVO would be way too much scope for that rifle unless you're doing some serious small game hunting at distance.
Son, put a red dot on that thing and call it a day. 24 years Army taught me keep it simple. LPVO on a .22 is like putting racing tires on a golf cart - looks cool but misses the point. Aimpoint or EOTech if you want bombproof, Holosun if budget matters.
For a 10/22? Honestly you're overthinking it. A good red dot like an Aimpoint PRO or Holosun 510C will serve you way better than an LPVO on that platform. I've tested dozens of LPVOs and while they're great on ARs, the 10/22 doesn't have the power to justify the weight and complexity. Red dot + magnifier is solid if you really need the reach, but for most uses just the red dot.
I'd love to see some photos if you get a chance to post them.
Dude same. I spent way too long researching before I just pulled the trigger and bought one.
My two cents — don't overthink it. Just get what feels right in your hand and train with it.
