Budget scope for Ruger Mini-14 — under $365
Need a scope for my Savage 110 but not trying to spend more than the gun cost. Budget $301. Mainly shooting hunting distances.
Looking at Vortex Crossfire II. What would you pick in this range?

Solid post. I've been thinking about the same thing lately. My Canik TP9 Elite has been my go-to but I'm always looking at other options.
Can't help much with hunting scopes but wanted to say good choice staying in budget! Too many people blow their whole gun fund on glass. The Vortex warranty is solid from what I've heard - might be worth the peace of mind.
Crossfire II is a good choice for that budget. I've helped several new shooters set them up and they're reliable scopes. Make sure you budget for decent rings too - don't cheap out there. Warne or Leupold rings will treat you right. What kind of hunting distances are we talking?
My two cents — don't overthink it. Just get what feels right in your hand and train with it.
Thanks for sharing. Been lurking for a while and this finally made me want to comment.
Wait... you said Mini-14 but then mentioned Savage 110? Big difference there. For the Savage in that price range the Crossfire II 3-9x40 is solid - I've tested it extensively. Glass is decent, tracking is reliable. Not PRS quality but way better than you'd expect for $200. Skip the BDC reticle though, go with the regular duplex.
