SBR vs pistol brace — legal question
With all the brace rule changes I'm confused about where things stand. I have a 8 inch .300 BLK.
Waiting for SCOTUS. What are you guys doing?

This is why I stick to my LCP MAX... no NFA headaches to deal with. But yeah, if I was in your shoes I'd probably just Form 1 it and be done with the uncertainty.
As an SOT I've been telling customers to hold off on new builds until SCOTUS rules. The current interpretation is basically "if it looks like a stock and functions like a stock, ATF considers it a stock" regardless of manufacturer intent. Your 8" .300 BLK with a brace is in limbo right now. I'd either Form 1 it properly or remove the brace entirely until we get clarity. The amnesty period ended so you're kinda stuck. FWIW most of my customers are just going the SBR route - $200 and 4-6 months vs years of legal uncertainty.
Same boat here man. I've got a 10.5" AR pistol that I'm afraid to even take to the range now lol. Been thinking about just biting the bullet and doing the Form 1 but the wait times are killing me. How long are Form 1s taking these days?
I've had three customers come in asking me to remove braces and install buffer tubes with no stock. Not ideal but keeps them legal while they wait for the courts to sort this mess out. The Form 1 route is honestly your best bet if you want to keep shooting it. I can help with the paperwork if you're local to the Cincinnati area.
Gonna have to respectfully disagree here. I've seen too many people have issues with that.
I run a similar setup and it's been flawless. Good choice.
