Form 1 SBR — process
Thinking about Form 1-ing my AR lower to make it an SBR. Want it done right.
Anyone done a Form 1 recently? How long and any tips?

Good looking out for sharing this deal. Just ordered one.
No experience with Form 1s but good luck with the wait. At least it's not a Form 4 can... those are taking forever right now.
My husband just did a Form 1 SBR about 6 months ago. Took about 35 days which was pretty quick from what I hear. Main tip - triple check everything before you submit, one mistake and you're starting over. Oh and engrave BEFORE you assemble it as an SBR... learned that the hard way lol.
Did mine last year, took about 45 days. Use the eForm system, way faster than paper. Make sure your photos are crystal clear and the measurements are exact. And yeah like range_wife said, get it engraved first - most shops can do it for $50-75.
I do a lot of engraving for Form 1 customers. Current wait times seem to be 30-60 days for eForm 1s which isn't bad. Pro tip: get your engraving depth right - too shallow and ATF might kick it back, too deep and you're damaging the receiver. I charge $60 for trust name and city/state on a lower. Also make sure your barrel length is exactly what you put on the form... measure twice, file once.
