Just bought my first gun — S&W M&P Shield Plus. Now what?
Picked up a S&W M&P Shield Plus yesterday. Completely new to this. What should I do first? Take a class?.
Any advice for a total beginner?

I run a similar setup and it's been flawless. Good choice.
My two cents — don't overthink it. Just get what feels right in your hand and train with it.
Solid post. I've been thinking about the same thing lately. My S&W M&P Shield Plus has been my go-to but I'm always looking at other options.
Shield Plus was my second gun actually! Love that thing. Don't let anyone intimidate you at the range - we all started somewhere. And honestly? A lot of us ladies pick it up faster than the guys do... something about actually listening to instruction instead of pretending we already know everything 😂
Great choice on the Shield Plus - solid first gun. My advice: 1) Take a basic pistol class ASAP, 2) Learn to clean and maintain it properly, 3) Practice dry firing at home (safely!), 4) Get to the range regularly. Don't worry about holsters and fancy gear yet. Focus on fundamentals first. Happy to answer any specific questions you have.
Congrats on the purchase! Though I gotta ask - why start a thread about guns when you could be filling coin folders instead? lol Just kidding. Get some training first, then worry about accessories.
Hey! I just got into this last year myself. The Shield Plus is a great starter - I almost got that one too but went with a Glock 19. Definitely take a class like Jim said. It made such a huge difference for me. Also YouTube channels like Hickok45 helped me learn basic stuff.
