Just bought my first gun — Ruger MAX-9. Now what?
Picked up a Ruger MAX-9 last month. First time gun owner. What should I do first? Get a safe?.
Any advice for a total beginner?

That's exciting! I remember when I got started - so much to learn but it's fun. Definitely prioritize safety training first, then range time. The MAX-9 is supposed to be really reliable from what I've heard. Maybe find a local gun group or club? Having experienced people to ask questions helps a lot.
Congrats on the MAX-9! I just got my first gun a few months ago too. Definitely get a safe first - even a small bedside one. Then take a basic firearms safety course if you haven't already. Most ranges offer them. Start with the fundamentals before anything else. The MAX-9 is a great choice btw!
Good choice on the MAX-9, solid little gun. First thing - learn the four basic safety rules by heart. Then get to the range and practice. Don't worry about fancy gear yet, just focus on fundamentals. A basic gun safe is smart too, especially if you have kids around. Welcome to the club!
MAX-9's a good gun. Get yourself a decent holster and gun safe, take a basic pistol course at your local range. Practice dry firing at home (gun unloaded obviously). Most important thing is building muscle memory and good habits from the start. Don't rush into anything fancy until you've got the basics down solid.
Can you share more details on your setup? I'm trying to decide between a few options right now.
