Just bought my first gun — FN 509. Now what?
Picked up a FN 509 Sunday. Completely new to this. What should I do first? Buy ammo and go to the range?.
Any advice for a total beginner?

Nice choice on the 509! First thing - get familiar with it. Read the manual, learn how to clean it properly. Then yeah, buy some quality ammo (not the cheapest stuff) and hit the range. Start with basic marksmanship at 7 yards. FN uses good triggers so you're ahead of the game there.
Congrats! The 509 is a solid platform. If you're planning to put an optic on it eventually, the Tactical version comes optics-ready. But for now, focus on iron sights and fundamentals. Get professional training if possible - YouTube is great but nothing beats hands-on instruction from a good instructor.
Welcome to the club! I got my first gun last year and the learning curve is real. Definitely get training - I took a basic pistol class and it made all the difference. Also invest in a good holster if you plan to carry. The 509 is a great choice, you'll love it!
