How to store guns with kids in the house?
Got 2 kids (ages 11 and 13) and just bought my first gun. Safe storage is my #1 priority. Looking at a trigger lock.
What do you guys use? Need quick access for HD but absolutely kid-proof.

Those cable trigger locks that come with guns are basically useless for HD imo. Get a proper quick access safe. I've been happy with my SentrySafe - cheap but reliable. Just don't rely on only biometrics... always have a backup method.
Good on you for prioritizing safety first. At 11 and 13, your kids are definitely old enough to understand gun safety if you teach them properly. I always recommend the Eddie Eagle program - teaches kids what to do if they find a gun. But yeah, secure storage is non-negotiable. I use a V-Line quick access safe... spring loaded, opens with a 4-button combo you can do by feel.
Trigger locks are better than nothing but honestly not great for HD access. I've got a Hornady RAPiD safe on the nightstand - biometric opens in under 2 seconds. Kids that age are smart and curious... you need something they literally cannot defeat. Fort Knox makes excellent pistol boxes too. Whatever you choose, practice opening it in the dark until it's muscle memory.
I literally just went through this same decision! Ended up with a GunVault SpeedVault... mounts under the bed or desk. Uses your fingerprints and has a backup key. Took me about a week of practice but now I can open it blind in like 3 seconds. Way better than fumbling with trigger locks at 2am.
My two cents — don't overthink it. Just get what feels right in your hand and train with it.
LOL I felt the same way. It gets better after a few weeks trust me.
