Traveling with firearms — what to know
Road tripping from AZ to CO and bringing my 1911 Government. What are the rules for flying with a gun?
Don't want to accidentally become a felon on vacation.

Yeah you're confusing me too - road trip or flying? For driving AZ to CO you're golden, both states are gun friendly. If you meant flying though that's a whole different beast. Either way that 1911 is GTG in both states.
Road trip and flying are two different things. For driving AZ to CO you're fine - both states recognize each other's permits and no assault weapon issues. For flying you'll need to declare it, locked hard case, ammo separate, etc. TSA has specific rules. But wait... you said road trip then asked about flying?
I travel to matches all over and always drive specifically to avoid airline hassles. AZ to CO is an easy drive and both states are solid on gun rights. No issues at all with your 1911. Flying is just too much risk and paperwork imo.
This thread is gold. Saving for reference.

LOL I felt the same way. It gets better after a few weeks trust me.
Interesting take. I went the other direction and picked up a S&W M&P 2.0 instead. No regrets so far but ask me again in 6 months.
Agree 100%. Had the exact same experience with my setup.
