Proposed gun law in FL — thoughts?
Just saw that a committee passed a bill that would restrict AR-style rifles.
How does this affect existing owners?.
Not trying to start a political fight, just want to understand the legal impact.

This is exactly why we can't give an inch. Today it's FL, tomorrow it's everywhere. Get involved with your local gun rights groups now, not after they pass this crap. And yeah... stock up while you can still legally do it.
Man this stuff keeps creeping into red states too. Here in PA we're always fighting something. Usually grandfathering happens but they make it a pain to transfer or sell later. Keep an eye on it for sure.
This is why I reload and stock components. These laws always target new purchases first, then registration, then... who knows. FL has been pretty good on 2A stuff but you never know. Existing owners usually get some protection but I wouldn't count on it forever.
As an attorney I can tell you that existing owners typically get grandfathered in FL - they've done this before with other restrictions. But the devil is in the details... registration requirements, transfer restrictions, etc. I'd need to see the actual bill language. Usually they can't just take your legally owned property without compensation.
Not sure I agree but I respect the opinion. For me the Canik TP9 Elite has been rock solid for 12 months now.
