Pending gun law in CA — thoughts?
Just saw that the governor signed a bill that would require universal background checks.
How does this affect existing owners?.
Not trying to start a political fight, just want to understand the legal impact.

Wait, does this mean I can't buy from private sellers anymore without going to a gun store? I was planning to pick up a shotgun from my neighbor... do I need to worry about stuff I already own?
UBCs don't affect existing ownership directly - it's about transfers going forward. Private party sales would need to go through FFLs now. Enforcement is the real question... how do they prove a transfer happened without registration? Implementation details matter more than the headline. Check if there are exemptions for family transfers, temporary loans, etc.
Just another reason I stick to the mountains tbh. Out here in Tennessee we don't deal with this nonsense. But yeah, like Karen said - it's about future transfers, not what you already have. CA keeps making it harder for law-abiding folks while criminals ignore the laws anyway.
Good looking out for sharing this deal. Just ordered one.
You should check out the Glock 43X too. Similar price point and I think the trigger is better.
