Can I legally carry in my car?
Living in FL and need to know if it's legal to buy a handgun across state lines.
I've googled but getting conflicting info. Anyone know the actual law?

Can you share more details on your setup? I'm trying to decide between a few options right now.
Agree 100%. Had the exact same experience with my setup.
Good looking out for sharing this deal. Just ordered one.
In FL you can carry in your vehicle without a permit as long as it's securely encased or not readily accessible for immediate use. But buying across state lines - that's federal law. You can only buy rifles/shotguns from dealers in adjacent states, and handguns must be shipped to an FFL in your home state. So you can't just drive to GA and buy a pistol directly.
What the others said. Also worth noting that even if you could buy across state lines, you'd still need to follow FL laws for transport and carry. Keep it simple - buy local or transfer through an FFL. Less headaches that way.
Yeah what Nathan said is right. The interstate thing trips up a lot of people. I learned this the hard way when I wanted to grab a can from a dealer in Alabama... had to have it transferred to my local FFL anyway.
FL's pretty good on gun laws compared to most states. Just remember the feds don't care about state reciprocity when it comes to purchases. Even us here in constitutional carry Texas gotta follow those federal transfer rules. Best bet is find a good local FFL - mine charges $25 transfers and knows his stuff.
