Turkey season — what shotgun/choke combo?
Getting ready for spring turkey. Running a Beretta 1301 with a Carlson choke and Winchester Long Beard. Patterning at 40 yds needs work.
What's your turkey setup?

Still pretty new to hunting but picked up a Mossberg 500 combo last fall. Been practicing with it but haven't tried turkey yet - seems way harder than I thought it would be! What distance are you trying to pattern at? 40 yards sounds far to me but like I said, total newbie here lol
Turkey's a whole different game than deer. I run an old 870 with a Primos Jellyhead .660 and Federal Heavyweight 7's. That combo patterns tight out to 45 yards on my property. Long Beard is good stuff but you might need to try different choke constrictions. Also check your point of aim - turkeys require precision shots to the head/neck.
Turkey hunting's all about that pattern density in a 10" circle at your max range. Been using the same Remington 11-87 with a Trulock Precision Hunter .665 for probably 15 years now. Shoots Federal Heavyweight 6's like a laser. Your 1301's a solid gun - probably just need to experiment with different chokes and loads. Pattern everything at the same distance you plan to shoot.
Don't hunt much but my buddy swears by his Benelli with an Indian Creek choke. Says the key is finding the right load/choke combo through lots of patterning. Expensive hobby from what I hear!
This is the content I come here for. Thanks OP.
Good looking out for sharing this deal. Just ordered one.
Gonna have to respectfully disagree here. I've seen too many people have issues with that.
