Interesting take. I went the other direction and picked up a Ruger MAX-9 instead. No regrets so far but ask me again in 6 months.
You should check out the Ruger MAX-9 too. Similar price point and I think the trigger is better.

Congrats man! That's awesome. Nothing beats that first deer. 30-06 is a classic choice too - plenty of power for a clean kill. Three years is a long time to wait but sounds like you made it count. Heart shot DRT is exactly how you want it to go.
Hell yeah brother! First deer is special. 30-06 at 90 yards with a heart shot - textbook hunting right there. Been chasing elk for over 30 years and that feeling never gets old. Your freezer being full is the best part... that meat will taste better than anything you can buy. What rifle were you running?
