First deer ever — can't believe it
last month I connected on my first whitetail! .270 at 150. Clean pass through dropped in 30 yds.
Freezer is full. This is what it's all about.

Nice work! First deer is always special. I still remember mine from 20 years ago on PA public land. .270 is a solid choice - plenty of knock down power without being overkill. 150 yards is a respectable shot too, especially for a first timer. Welcome to the addiction lol
Congrats on the deer! Nothing wrong with filling the freezer. Speaking of full freezers... anyone else stocking up on meat with silver prices where they are? Been telling folks for years to diversify - guns, ammo, precious metals, and food storage. Sounds like you got the food part covered now!
Congrats! Nothing beats that first one. .270 is a great choice - I've taken probably 50+ elk with mine over the years. That freezer full of venison beats store-bought beef any day. You picked a good caliber and made a clean shot, that's what matters.
Congrats man! What load were you running in that .270? I've been working up some loads with 130gr Barnes TTSX that have been shooting lights out. Always curious what others are using. That clean pass through sounds like good bullet performance.
This thread is gold. Saving for reference.
+1 on this. My buddy had the same issue and switching to Vedder LightTuck fixed it for him.
Gonna have to respectfully disagree here. I've seen too many people have issues with that.
Great info here. Bookmarking this thread for later.
Can you share more details on your setup? I'm trying to decide between a few options right now.
