Home defense setup — what's yours?
Here's my current HD setup: - Bedside: Springfield Hellcat with a Streamlight TLR-1 - Hallway: Stoeger M3000 with a flashlight
Need to add a light. What does your setup look like?

Not much of a tactical guy but I keep a S&W .38 Special in the nightstand. Simple and reliable. For lights though, you really want something weapon-mounted so you're not juggling a handheld flashlight and trying to aim. Streamlight makes solid stuff.
Still figuring out my setup too... right now just have a Glock 19 with a basic light. Reading these posts helps a lot. Question - do you practice with the light setup regularly? I'm wondering how much the added weight changes the feel.
Good start but you need weapon lights on both. That TLR-1 on the Hellcat is smart - keeps both hands free. For the Stoeger, look at a Streamlight TLR-1 HL or Surefire X300. Don't cheap out on lights when it's your family's safety. Also consider keeping a handheld backup light nearby in case the weapon light fails.
Solid choices! I always tell my students - train with whatever setup you plan to use for real. That means low-light drills with your weapon lights. The Streamlight TLR series is reliable and affordable. Consider adding a handheld light as backup too. Practice your light discipline - you don't want to backlight yourself if there's an intruder.
My wife would kill me if I bought another one but this is tempting lol
Solid post. I've been thinking about the same thing lately. My S&W M&P Shield Plus has been my go-to but I'm always looking at other options.
That's a steal at that price honestly. I paid way more for mine.
