HD ammo choice — Hornady Critical Defense vs what?
For my Kimber Micro 9 I'm running Hornady Critical Defense for home defense. Buddy says I need something different.
What defensive ammo are you guys trusting your family's life to?

I'm using Federal HST 124gr in my Glock 19. Did a bunch of research and that seemed to be the most recommended. Haven't had any feeding issues and it groups well. For a micro gun though you might want to test different weights... I've heard some of the smaller guns prefer heavier bullets.
Critical Defense isn't bad but there's better options. Federal HST 147gr or Speer Gold Dot 124gr would be my picks for that platform. The HST has great expansion even from short barrels. Whatever you pick, buy a few boxes and make sure it cycles reliably in your gun before trusting your life to it.
Critical Defense is decent stuff but for a Micro 9 I'd lean toward Federal HST or Speer Gold Dot. The shorter barrel might not get full expansion with some loads. Whatever you choose, make sure you test it in YOUR gun - some micro pistols can be picky about feeding certain defensive ammo.
I run a similar setup and it's been flawless. Good choice.
