Thread a barrel for a suppressor — who's done it?
Want to thread my Mossberg Patriot barrel for a Dead Air Sandman S. LGS wants $150. Barrel is factory contour.
Should I just buy a pre-threaded barrel?

Did this on my old Remington 700 back in '92 for one of the first suppressors I could get my hands on. Threading is straightforward if you got a decent smith who knows what he's doing. $150 isn't terrible tbh... I've seen guys charge $200+ for the same work. Just make sure they use a proper threading jig and check concentricity. A wonky thread job will send your bullets sideways through that can.
Make sure your smith knows the thread pitch for the Sandman S - should be 5/8x24 for .308. Also verify your barrel length after threading... don't want to accidentally create an SBR if you're close to 16". Most smiths know this stuff but worth mentioning.
I had the opposite experience honestly. But everyone's different I guess.
Not sure I agree but I respect the opinion. For me the S&W M&P Shield Plus has been rock solid for 2 months now.
