Thread a barrel for a suppressor — who's done it?
Want to thread my Savage 110 barrel for a CGS Mod 9. Found a guy on forums. Barrel is factory contour.
Any risks?

Should be fine as long as the guy knows what he's doing. Make sure he has the right threading pitch for your can - usually 5/8x24 for .30 cal. I'd ask to see examples of his work first though.
No experience with threading but CGS makes solid cans. Maybe ask around your local ranges to see who they recommend? I'd probably go with an established shop over some random forum guy tbh.
Done plenty of these. Main risk is if the threading isn't concentric you'll get baffle strikes. Always test with an alignment rod first. Factory contour gives you plenty of meat to work with on a Savage. Just make sure whoever does it has experience - seen too many botched jobs from basement gunsmiths.
Had my Remington 700 threaded for my Omega 300 a few years back. Works great but yeah, concentricity is critical. The shop I used had a guarantee - if there were issues they'd fix it free. Might be worth paying a bit more for that peace of mind.
Thanks for sharing. Been lurking for a while and this finally made me want to comment.
My wife would kill me if I bought another one but this is tempting lol
Great info here. Bookmarking this thread for later.
Been there done that. Lesson learned the hard way for me too.
I had the opposite experience honestly. But everyone's different I guess.
