Stippling a FN 509 — ruined it
Buddy stippled his FN 509 and I'm nervous. Used a soldering iron.
Have you stippled? Do you regret it?

Had mine done professionally and it turned out great, but I've seen plenty of DIY disasters. Problem with soldering irons is they're too hot and melt the polymer instead of just texturing it. If you're gonna attempt it yourself at least get a wood burning pen with variable temp control. Better yet, just buy some grip tape and save yourself the headache.
I stippled my G19 about 2 years ago and honestly... kinda regret it. Makes it harder to conceal because it grabs at clothing more. Function wise it's fine but if I had to do it again I'd just get some Talon grips and call it a day.
Stippling can be hit or miss. I've seen some beautiful work and some that look like they got attacked by a wood burning kit. The 509 has pretty good grip texture already IMO. If you're gonna do it, practice on some old holsters first or just send it to someone who knows what they're doing.
I had the opposite experience honestly. But everyone's different I guess.
