Cerakote — DIY or professional?
Want to cerakote my Ruger LCP MAX. Thinking OD green. Anyone done it themselves?.
Local shop quoted $240 for a upper and lower.

$240 is reasonable for a small frame like the LCP. DIY cerakote is doable but you need an oven that hits 250-300F and proper prep is everything. I'd say go professional first time - if you mess it up you're looking at more money to fix it than just doing it right the first time.
Had my Glock 19 done in FDE about 2 years ago, still looks great. DIY can work but honestly for a carry gun I'd want the professional finish. OD green's a good choice - hides wear better than some colors. $240 isn't terrible for the work involved.
I've done a few myself but nothing as small as an LCP. The prep work is tedious - media blasting, degreasing, proper masking. For $240 I'd probably just let the pro handle it. My time is worth something too and that's not a bad price.
This is exactly why I joined this forum. Good discussion.
My wife would kill me if I bought another one but this is tempting lol

Good looking out for sharing this deal. Just ordered one.
+1 on this. My buddy had the same issue and switching to PHLster Enigma fixed it for him.
