Unpopular opinion: FN 509 is overrated
Ok hear me out. The FN 509 gets SO much hype but after owning one for 12 months I don't see it. Trigger is meh, ergonomics are ok at best. Sold it and got a Ruger LCP MAX and couldn't be happier.
Anyone else feel this way or am I crazy?

Only shot the 509 once at a buddy's camp. Felt ok in my hands but nothing special. For hunting I stick with revolvers anyway - my S&W 686 has never let me down in 15 years. Different tools for different jobs I guess.
Nah I get it... FN has that "premium" reputation but the 509 never felt special to me either. Shot one at the range and it was just... fine? For the money there's better options IMO. The LCP MAX is tiny though lol, that's quite a switch!
Eh, I've had good luck with the 509 Tactical. Ran about 2000 rounds through it last year testing for a review. Trigger breaks clean enough and it's been reliable. But you're not wrong about the ergos - that grip texture is pretty aggressive. The LCP MAX is a totally different animal though... pocket gun vs full size? Seems like different use cases to me.

Facts. I switched to the same thing about 18 months ago and it was a game changer.
I run a similar setup and it's been flawless. Good choice.
