Match gun upgrade — Staccato worth it?
Currently shooting a S&W M&P 2.0 in Limited division. Thinking about upgrading to a Atlas Athena for about $1,500.
Will a better gun actually make me faster or should I just train more with what I have?

I'm pretty new to all this but wow, $1500 for a gun? I just went to my first gun show last weekend and was amazed at the prices on some of these competition guns. Maybe start with training first? That's what everyone at the show was telling me anyway.
Bill's right on the money here. I've been helping new shooters for years and the ones who improve fastest are the ones who practice consistently, not the ones with the fanciest gear. Master your fundamentals with what you have first. You can always upgrade later when you really know what you want.
Honestly? The gun won't make you faster - you will. I shot my way to A-class with a bone stock Tanfo Stock II that cost me $600 used. Yeah the Atlas is nice (I've shot one) but you'll see bigger gains from dry fire practice and more match time. Save that $1500 for ammo and match fees. The M&P 2.0 is a solid platform - just shoot the hell out of it.
Appreciate the honest review. Most people just hype everything up.
Anyone else run into this? I thought I was the only one.
Gonna have to respectfully disagree here. I've seen too many people have issues with that.
This thread is gold. Saving for reference.
