Match gun upgrade — Staccato worth it?
Currently shooting a Kimber Micro 9 in Carry Optics division. Thinking about upgrading to a Atlas Athena for about $1,200.
Will a better gun actually make me faster or should I just train more with what I have?

I had the opposite experience honestly. But everyone's different I guess.
This is exactly why I joined this forum. Good discussion.
Can you share more details on your setup? I'm trying to decide between a few options right now.
Honestly? Train more first. I shot my Kimber Ultra Carry for 2 years before upgrading to the Tanfo and my times didn't magically drop until I put in the work. That said, the Staccato triggers are sweet and will help with precision. But $1,200 could buy a LOT of ammo and match fees... just saying.
Can't help with the competition side but curious what made you pick the Kimber Micro for matches? Seems pretty small for competition shooting but maybe I'm missing something.
Wait, you're shooting Carry Optics with a Micro 9? That's... unusual lol. Most CO shooters run full size guns with red dots. The Atlas Athena is nice but might want to consider what division you're actually trying to compete in. For Production division my CZ has been rock solid.
