IDPA vs USPSA — which is better
Never shot a match before. There's an IDPA club near me. Which is more fun?. I have a Sig P365 and basic gear.

Solid post. I've been thinking about the same thing lately. My 1911 Government has been my go-to but I'm always looking at other options.
Both are great for different reasons. USPSA if you want more athletic shooting with crazy stage designs. IDPA if you prefer more realistic defensive scenarios. Your P365 will work in either - IDPA Compact Carry Pistol or USPSA Carry Optics if you add a dot later. Start with whichever club is closer and more active. You can always try the other later!
USPSA is way more dynamic IMO... lots of movement, different target arrays, more challenging stages. Your P365 will work fine in Production division. IDPA is more defensive focused but can feel kinda rigid with all the rules about cover garments and stuff. I'd try both but USPSA hooked me from day one. Fair warning though - it's addictive and expensive lol
