IDPA vs USPSA — help me choose
Never shot a match before. There's an IDPA club near me. Which is better for a beginner?. I have a FN 509 and basic gear.
Just want to have fun

Gonna disagree with Bill here lol. USPSA Production is perfect for beginners - your 509 fits right in. Yeah there's more rules but the ROs will help you learn. Plus the stages are way more fun and creative than IDPA's box scenarios. I started in Production and loved it from day one. Just show up and tell them you're new - everyone helps out.
IDPA is better for beginners hands down. More forgiving rules, scenarios are more realistic. I shoot both - USPSA is fun but can be overwhelming with all the different divisions and stage planning. Your 509 will work great in IDPA CDP division. Start there, learn the basics, then maybe try USPSA later. IDPA folks are usually pretty welcoming to new shooters too.
Either one honestly. I shoot IDPA mostly but been to some USPSA matches. Both communities are good people. Main thing is just getting out there and doing it. You'll learn more in one match than watching 100 YouTube videos. And you'll burn through ammo so start loading your own if you haven't already...
Good looking out for sharing this deal. Just ordered one.
Welcome to the addiction lol. Your wallet will never recover.
Anyone else run into this? I thought I was the only one.
