First USPSA match — what a rush
Shot my first USPSA match yesterday with my Ruger MAX-9. Came in near the bottom but learned so much.
Stage planning is everything. Why didn't I start sooner?

Welcome to the addiction! lol IDPA gal here but shot some USPSA too. That Ruger MAX-9 is a solid choice for Production division. Stage planning really is half the battle - I still walk through stages muttering to myself like a crazy person. You'll get faster with reps, promise!
Good for you! I carry the LCP MAX daily but never thought about competitive shooting with it... might be too small for USPSA though haha. How'd the MAX-9 feel for rapid fire strings?
Competitive shooting teaches you fundamentals fast. Even though I'm all about precision benchrest, the fundamentals carry over - sight alignment, trigger control, breathing. Keep at it.
Nice! Production is a great place to start. I've been running my CZ Shadow 2 in Production for 3 years now, sitting at B-class. The MAX-9 will serve you well - I've seen guys do really well with striker guns. Main thing is trigger time and dry fire practice. What was your biggest takeaway from the match?
You should check out the 1911 Government too. Similar price point and I think the trigger is better.
Following this thread. Interested to see what others think.
Appreciate the honest review. Most people just hype everything up.
My two cents — don't overthink it. Just get what feels right in your hand and train with it.
