Milsurp haul — Mauser update
Added a No.4 Mk1 Enfield to the collection. Got it at the range store for $271. Stock has character.
Who else collects milsurp? Prices keep climbing.

Nice pickup on that Enfield! $271 is decent for a No.4 these days, especially with "character" - that usually means battle scars which I actually prefer. Been collecting milsurps since the 80s and yeah, prices have gone nuts. Remember when Mosins were $89? My last Mauser K98 cost me $650 and that was 2 years ago. The history in these rifles is what keeps me coming back.
That's a solid deal for an Enfield! I've got one No.4 and love shooting it. The .303 British is fun but pricey to feed. Stock character just adds to the story imo.
Great score! I inherited a couple milsurps from grandpa including a 1943 Enfield. The history these rifles carry is incredible - mine still has the unit markings. You're right about prices though, wish I'd bought more when they were cheap!
Don't collect milsurps but I feel your pain on climbing prices. Same thing happening with coins - Walking Libs that were $30 five years ago are pushing $60+ now. Everything collectible is going up. At least you can still shoot yours lol
This is exactly why I joined this forum. Good discussion.
I'm in the same boat. Let me know what you end up going with.
Solid post. I've been thinking about the same thing lately. My Springfield Hellcat has been my go-to but I'm always looking at other options.
