Gun shows can be hit or miss for coins tbh. The selection is usually pretty limited and half the dealers don't really know what they have. But yeah, sometimes you can score because of that. Found a 1921 Morgan in VF condition priced like it was G4 once. Coin shows are definitely better for serious collecting though.
Honestly I find better coin deals at gun shows sometimes. The coin dealers there seem more willing to negotiate, maybe because they're not surrounded by hardcore collectors. Found some nice Mercury dimes at a decent price last month at the Indy 1500.
Solid post. I've been thinking about the same thing lately. My Glock 43X has been my go-to but I'm always looking at other options.
