Best coin books for beginners?
Just getting into numismatics and want to learn. Yeoman vs Breen?. I'm mostly interested in pre-1933 gold.
Also — PCGS or NGC? Does it matter?

Welcome to the addiction lol. Your wallet will never recover.
My two cents — don't overthink it. Just get what feels right in your hand and train with it.
For pre-1933 gold, definitely start with the Red Book (Yeoman). Breen is more advanced and expensive - save that for later. PCGS vs NGC doesn't matter much for learning, both are solid. I'd focus more on learning to grade raw coins first before worrying about slabs. What denominations are you thinking? $20 Saints are a great starter.
Just a heads up - make sure you understand the legal implications of buying/selling gold coins vs bullion. Different tax treatment and reporting requirements. Not trying to scare you off but worth knowing upfront!
