Gun show bullion dealers — good deals?
The bullion dealers at gun shows — premiums are usually high. Saturday at the Dallas Market Hall Show a guy had Buffalo nickel for spot + $2.
Trust but verify. Anyone else buy metals at gun shows?

Been dealing metals at shows for 20 years and you're absolutely right about verifying. That Buffalo nickel price isn't bad - I've seen spot + $3-4 at shows lately. The key is knowing your dealer. I've got regular customers who know my stuff is legit, but there's definitely sketchy dealers out there. Always check with a magnet and scale if you're buying significant quantities. Shows are good for oddball pieces you can't find online though.
I've bought a few silver eagles at shows but yeah, premiums are usually higher than online dealers. That Buffalo nickel deal sounds decent though - spot + $2 isn't terrible for a show. I stick to the big dealers at shows, the guys with the fancy displays and business cards.
That's a steal at that price honestly. I paid way more for mine.
My two cents — don't overthink it. Just get what feels right in your hand and train with it.
Interesting take. I went the other direction and picked up a Glock 43X instead. No regrets so far but ask me again in 6 months.
I'm in the same boat. Let me know what you end up going with.
