Road trip CCW — reciprocity question
Planning a trip from VA to NC and trying to figure out where I can carry. Have a UT permit. Reciprocity maps are confusing.
Anyone done this route armed? States I need to lock up for?

VA to NC should be pretty straightforward with a UT permit. NC honors it for sure. Just watch out for any federal property or restricted areas along the way. I make that run sometimes and never had issues.
Check the USCCA reciprocity map - it's usually pretty current. UT permit should cover you in both states but always double check local laws about where you can't carry (schools, government buildings, etc). Safe travels!
UT permit is solid for that route. Both VA and NC have reciprocity with Utah. Main thing is knowing the local restrictions - some places don't allow carry in restaurants that serve alcohol, others do. Print out the relevant state laws before you go... better safe than sorry.
I've done similar trips with my UT permit. VA and NC both recognize it. Just be mindful of any stops at rest areas or government buildings. I always keep my permit and a copy of the reciprocity laws in my glove box just in case.
Been there done that. Lesson learned the hard way for me too.
LOL I felt the same way. It gets better after a few weeks trust me.
I run a similar setup and it's been flawless. Good choice.
