First time carrying in public
Got my permit two weeks ago and carried first time a couple weeks ago. Ruger MAX-9 in a Tier 1 Axis Elite. Was SO paranoid but nobody noticed.
When does it feel normal?

My two cents — don't overthink it. Just get what feels right in your hand and train with it.
I'd love to see some photos if you get a chance to post them.
Yeah that first time is nerve wracking for sure. I remember checking my holster like every 5 minutes lol. The MAX-9 is nice but have you considered a G43X? Similar size but Glock reliability. Either way, it gets normal after about a month of daily carry. Just don't get complacent with your holster - always make sure it's secure.
Congrats on getting out there! That paranoid feeling is totally normal - had the same thing when I first started carrying 25+ years ago. For most people it takes about 2-3 months of daily carry before it feels natural. The Tier 1 is solid gear, you made a good choice there. Just keep at it and stay aware of your surroundings.
